My name is Dana Saranchuk, the artist behind Dana Dynamite Tattoos. I was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. I moved to Airdrie in 2021 with my two kids and we have built a beautiful life here since.

I have always been a creative soul. I attended Alberta College of Art and Design after high school with my focus in communication design.

I paint in my spare time with acrylics, oils and water colour. I love to explore new hiking trails in our beautiful rocky mountain backyard to connect my soul and ground myself. But mostly I love hanging out with my family.

I started my tattoo journey back in 2017 in Calgary. I was given the opportunity to begin my studies in this unique career. Seven years later I have developed into an artist that loves to create forever memories for people. In return I get to listen to stories of love, hope and growth. I get to relate to people in a way I never knew existed.

I am always learning new things and growing in my craft more and more. I love making designs that have animals and florals of all kinds. Anything that relates to nature, is organic, and abstract can be so much fun for me. I love colour and black and grey but I have found myself gravitating towards watercolour designs. I love the free flowing expression.

This was one of the hardest tattoos I’ve ever done.

This incredible soul started getting tattoos to cover her scars from a car accident that left her with a spinal injury. Her vehicle flipped 3X. Thank god she is alive.

Now she is getting tattoos for the love of the art.

As I reflect on this tattoo I will forever hold the memory of this moment and how life is a gift. 💝

If you notice some lines are shaken it is because every time the needle hit her skin she had an uncontrollable shake.

I’ve only dealt with nerve damage once before this. It’s incredibly hard to tattoo some one like this. But I anchored her arm down and went slow.

Autumn is like nature’s grand finale

Sunflower from the convention!

Also one of the many beneficial ingredients in my healing balm!

My client last night sat really well!

Tattooing pumpkins are fun! Keeping the stencil on not so much hahaha…. A little bit of freehand skill was needed but I think I did well for a fruit. I know what I’ll do for next time!

Some healed watercolour lilies! 😍 We added onto her existing piece (you can kinda see it on the top right) with the same concept. The inner forearm is done by me and it is healed. The side colour is fresh as she needed to finish up part of the colour in the second session. Most of what you are seeing is healed.

I can never really match another artists style as I have my own when continuing on. But I think it filled the space so pretty.

Completed koi fish!

So what your are seeing at the beginning is healed lines. We did the line work a month ago and jumped back in to finish off with the shading.

I suggested this way because it was summer and for her to continue enjoying it, doing the linework in one session allowed the tattoo to heal quickly.

The geometric lotus was not done by me but we went over it again with a smaller line because it was already blow out but adding “water” around it allowed it to blend in more.

I’m happy with how it turned out and this method allows less trauma and inflammation to the skin if you are patient. 😊 thank for the trust.

We added to a tattoo we did 4 years ago!

She wanted it to cover more space and possibly continue down her leg in the future!

I went over the existing outline we did years ago to match the density of the new addition and widened it to fill the thigh more.

Today I tattooed an almost 77 year old and she wasn’t even my eldest client.

Tattooing this skin can be very difficult. As the collagen and elastin is depleted the skin is super thin and prone to blow outs.

I’ve honestly never felt this much excitement from a client before about getting their first tattoo.

It was so fun to share that with her. 🫶♥️

I had a woman come in for her 80th birthday…because why not. It’s an experience I’ll never forget.

This is in memory of their lover, their brother and her son. Passed too soon. Such beautiful ladies.

She mentioned she and her husband see their son in their dreams a lot. In my belief this is a visitation dream whereas the passed spirt is actually communicating with you.

I hope this brings some healing. ♥️

So a way that I notice that I need to be more creative is when I start to feel a bit down and anxious.

I thrive on productivity. Especially when I’am being creative.
I love love love tattooing because it is so much like painting. Which is something I have loved from a young age.
So when Iam not tattooing you can find me painting.

This summer has been pulling at my energy. I want my kids to have an amazing summer. But I also want to do what I love. So on the days when I’m not tattooing I’ll be painting some rocks with my kid and that’s okay because this time with them is so precious.
